Talent Visa (Talent Passport)

Talent Visa (Talent Passport): The Best Visa You Can Get for France

If you are a qualified employee, an entrepreneur, an investor, a researcher, an artist, or simply exceptionally accomplished in your field, the Talent Visa—formerly known as the Passport Talent —is, by far, the best visa option available in France.

It is faster, more flexible, and more secure than any other visa category. It can put you on a direct path to long-term residency (a 10-year card) and French citizenship if that is your long-term goal.

Why the Talent Visa Stands Out

Valid for 4 years

Every other visa category is valid for only one year.

Renewable

After four years, you can renew it for another four-year permit. After five years of residence in France, you become eligible for a ten-year card or for French citizenship.

Your family is included

Your spouse and minor children can accompany you on the same four-year visa, automatically gaining the right to work in France. No separate application is required. Your spouse does not need to find an employer in France to support their application.

A solid foundation for obtaining French citizenship

The Talent Visa is one of the most efficient ways to become a French citizen.

Which Talent Visa Category Is Right for You?

The Talent Visa is not a one-size-fits-all program. It covers several different categories, each with its own requirements.

For the EU Blue Card (Talent Visa). You will generally qualify if you:

  • Earn a gross annual salary of at least €59,373
  • Have at least 5 years of professional experience (or 3 years of higher education) in your field

For the Talent Visa (Qualified Employee). You will generally qualify if you:

  • Hold a master's degree earned in France
  • Earn a gross annual salary of at least €39,582

In both cases, your employer does not need to apply for a separate work authorization in advance—you can proceed directly to applying for your visa or residence permit. For other types of visas, your employer must obtain a work authorization from the French authorities before you can apply for your work visa.

To qualify, you must:

  • Present a genuine, serious business project in France that has been certified by the French authorities in advance
  • Secure funding of at least €30,000 for your business project
  • Hold at least a master's degree, or have 5 years of equivalent professional experience
  • Prove that you have sufficient resources to support yourself and your family—at least the equivalent of the annual gross full-time minimum wage (€22,404.20) as of June 2026.

To qualify, you must:

  • Invest personally, or through a company that you manage or in which you hold at least a 30% stake
  • Create or preserve jobs in France (or formally commit to doing so)
  • Invest at least €300,000 in tangible or intangible business assets in France

You may be eligible for the "Talent — National or International Renown" visa if:

  • Your reputation, whether nationally or internationally, is already well established, or
  • You can make a significant and lasting contribution to France's economic development, regional development, or international standing

You'll also need to prove that you have resources equal to at least the annual gross minimum wage (€22,404.20) as of June 2026.

To qualify, you must:

  • Hold at least a master's degree
  • Coming to France to conduct research or teach at the university level
  • Have a hosting agreement with an approved public or private research or higher education institution

To qualify, you must:

  • Hold a valid license to practice under the French Public Health Code
  • Earn a gross annual salary of at least €41,386.48

To qualify, you must demonstrate monthly income of at least 70% of the gross full-time minimum wage—at least 51% of which must come from your work as a performing artist or as the author of a literary or artistic work.

How Long Does It Take?

Timeframes vary by category, but as a general rule:

On average, it takes one month to obtain your Talent Visa.

Three to six months, as the process takes longer in France (this is only possible if you are already living in France with a residence permit). You will obtain a visa extension in the meantime.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can my family apply at the same time as me, or do they need to wait until I have obtained my visa?

If your application is well prepared, you can all apply at the same time.

What documents do I need to provide?

It really depends on your specific situation, so it's nearly impossible to provide a general list.

If you would like me to handle your application, I will send you access to my platform where you can upload your initial documents—I will then review everything and send you a customized list tailored to your situation. This will strengthen your application before it is submitted. This way, you can be confident that your application is complete, and you won’t risk having to apply more than once.

Do I need to set up my company or invest my funds before getting my visa, or can I do that afterward?

You should only establish your company or invest your funds after obtaining your visa—not before. In fact, you are not allowed to start a company in France before your visa is granted. I will guide you step by step to ensure that your application is not held up at any stage.

My employer doesn't know how to obtain this type of visa. Can you handle it directly with my company?

Yes — I can work directly with your employer to help you obtain your Talent Visa.

Can you help me get my business plan approved by the French authorities before I apply for my visa?

Yes—I can review and improve your business plan before it is submitted to the French authorities. This service is included in my package.
